Well...this day did not really turn out as planned! But in the end it turned out well. We were on our way to see our niece Katie in her latest musical, Mary Poppins. Jeff thought the car seemed to be running oddly, but attributed it to the hot day and the air conditioning putting an extra load on the engine. As we passed through one intersection, we both heard an odd clunk and then the motor seemed to die. A look-see under the hood revealed the worst news- the timing belt had snapped and the car had breathed its last.
Thankfully, the tow truck arrived and got us home in time for Jeff and Leigh to jump in his van (which only seats two) and head out again. They would probably arrive a little bit late for opening curtain, but we really wanted Leigh to see the musical and we'd planned a special day at the beach tomorrow as well. So I stayed home so they could go. As we were riding in the tow truck Leigh said, "I've never ridden in a tow truck before", so of course Grammy had to record it with a picture. Her brother Sam is going to be so jealous!
Great smile! I had a tow truck ride yesterday too - now my car is off getting clutch surgery! Two other friends have had car trouble in the past week too. Must be something in the air!
I hope they enjoyed the musical - such a shame that you didn't get to see it though :(
@salza Thank you Sally! These things happen- what can you do? It was a 17 year old car and we weren't sure how much longer it was going to last.
@alia_801 Who knew car-failure was going to be in global proportions this week! Although seeing it in person is the best, I will be able to see a video-taped version eventually. At least I'll get to hear her sing that way.
@dibzgreasley Thanks Debs! I'm sure it will. God always has a way of sorting these things out for me! I'll at least be able to see a video of her next time we meet up.
@vesna0210 Thank you Vesna! We are in the process of trying to figure out whether to get another used car or repair this one. Of course none of it is happening fast enough for me!

@kerristephens Thanks Kerri!
@allie912 Thanks Allison! Oh, yes I'm sure you're right- but I do seem to have an interesting share of them!
