Those puffy white "flowers" are actually a grass that is native to the boreal cranberry bog. I will have to ask our guide what the name was as I've forgotten it for the moment. Some invasive plants had limited the growth of this grass so the board which oversees the upkeep of the bog cleared several areas this year and the grasses have responded well to the "weeding" process. I loved the contrast between the red leaves of the one plant and the white puffs of the grass.
I did research cranberries some years ago and found that a particular variety grew in a bog! We didn't have a bog but found another variety which grew 'out of bog" Tiny fruit and very little of it didn't appeal.
@nicolecampbell Thank you Nicole! The bright red leaves were a beautiful contrast to the muted colors of the bog. Can't wait to see it again in the Spring. It will look so very different.
