am not taking up any challenge this week. but i had a hard time deciding what to post. of course, as it nears midnight, an idea came to me once again. (actually, it doesn't matter because it is already tomorrow on 365 since six hours ago because it's on UK time, right? so i'm late, as per usual.)
anyway, at lunchtime a week ago, i was taking shots of the scenery going to the st. lawrence market on front street. i was checking my shots when i noticed that there was this young man crouched on the sidewalk taking pictures of the flatiron building to the west, with his blackberry and his camera. when he stood up, he looked at me then turned around and walked towards the market, but looked back once. i was also going to the market but stopped a few times to take more photographs. when i reached the market, i saw the clock tower of one of the old buildings about a block north so i took more shots. when i checked my photos in the evening, he was there in one of the shots. my partner said, he's looking at you, so i zoomed him in and he was indeed looking at me. he could be a 365-er for all i know.
so if you're from toronto and you see these pics, and you're this guy, introduce yourself.
This has happened to me a couple of times and when i scan the daily pics to see if they were 365'rs no luck iquess there re just a lot of photographers out there.
@bkbinthecity - thanks but i wasn't really taking a photo of him, just the street view; when i first reviewed my shots, i didn't know he was caught in the picture. @cscecil - now he's on 365! and that tower is still stalking me and i kind of miss it, too. @steeler - i'm pretty sure you're right. with everyone owning sophisticated phones these days, i guess it's easy to use them as a camera when you see a nice scenery.
in any case, it would still be interesting if he turns up to be one of us on this website.
I was going to ask if that was near the market. I go once or twice a week for a quick walk at lunch - I might have passed you on the street! :) I still need to bring my camera downtown and get a shot of the Flatiron building.
@meggageg - meg, even non photogs would be attracted to you, kiddo. :-) @danig - the big pictures were really busy and colourful. i had to crop and zoom in the guy so we could see his face.
@catsmeowb - i didn't think he looked concerned. i suspect that he's a 365-er because he kept looking back at me while he kept walking. @pamfromcalgary - pam, i get a lot of strange looks from people when i'm taking street pictures. some people would give me an amuse look (oh look, some wannabe photogs!), some an annoyed look (just try pointing that stupid camera on me), or a dumb look (hmmm, wonder what she's shooting at, there's nothing interesting around here). and like you, i also don't care. haha!
@russianblue - kass, the first photo is just east of the flatiron building on the south side of front street. in fact in the first photo, he was shooting at the flatiron building with his phone and his iPhone. the second one is right outside st. lawrence market.
it's easy to recognize me. i carry my backpack style purse in front and i'm always looking up around me. geek!
@roth - haha! sue, if i was a young waif, i'd have put this on the discussion board. i think he's a good looking dude! @altadc - i do that all the time and i get the "what for did you take my picture?" thanks, kiddo. @sunnygreenwood - anne, interesting, indeed!
@patticake - thanks, patti. indeed it would be amusing. i'm almost tempted to post it on the discussion board. :-) @ilseal - my thoughts exactly!! thanks, ms. ilse.
