in circulation right now is the new plastic money. apparently it would be difficult for the bad guys to make fake ones of this. really paper thin plastic, and there's a part, shown here, that is clear or transparent. i taped the bill on to a green paper so that you can clearly see the transparent part. complete with holograms, braille embosse, and all the things needed to make it a legal tender - serial numbers, signature, etc.
this was supposed to have been posted yesterday but i forgot that i posted the niagara kiosk's edited version, and again, today i got lazy to go out and take photos.
This is such a great photo, summerfield. Is this just being circulated in Canada? Haven't heard about this. Your pic is fascinating and I studied it for awhile. This could be framed . . it's that beautiful. :)
@sanera - oh, i had to examine it really well and as you can see i even took a photo (or two), before i gave it back to the bank to pay my bills (hahaha!).
@karenann - i read that the U.S. has also started to circulate this kind with your fifty and hundred notes. i won't frame it, it would just remind me that i don't have it. :-) thank you, karenann.
Very odd money! We have plastic cash here, but the windows aren't quite this interesting! (Handy when you leave them in your pocket before washing them though...)
this is such an interesting photo on so many levels for me. 1) had no idea. shows how much i follow the news, shame on me; 2) stunningly beautiful, i would want to collect it, not such a bad thing, perhaps?; 3) it is here in the U.S.? and washable? that is good - but how many times will it make it through the dry cycle. . .
My goodness- this can't be cheaper to produce although it's harder to copy. Fascinating money to say the least. And you don't always have to go outside to get a good shot for the day. You've accomplished that with this photo for sure!
@alia_801 - oh, is that called window? obviously i only know money when i have to spend them. when you leave your money in your pants pocket and washed the pants, isn't that money laundering? hahahaha! thank you, alia.
@michaelelliott - for real, ME. apparently the 100 denoms are already in circulation in the big cities like NY. thank you.
@catsmeowb - 1) apparently not everyone knows about it, but it was in the news here in toronto in the early fall. 2) i'd like to give this to you to collect but it's been 'collected' already, if you know what i mean. 3) yes, and washable. dry cycle? i'd like to find out, too! thank you, camille.
@olivetreeann - i suppose it's true. i went out today at lunch but i wasn't so interested in taking out my camera. nothing was interesting enough. thank you, ann.
@steeler - that's what i called it the first time i touched it: monopoly money! thank you, howard.
@sunnygreenwood - i didn't notice any odour, but if there was it'd be the odour of money! i didn't like it just because i got a paper cut out of it, or maybe it's called legal tender cut! haha! thank you, anne.
very very cool shot. Although we don't have them here in the UK, Australia has had these 'plastic' notes for at least 15 years now - much harder to forge and much more hard wearing. Hope you learn to love them :-)
@patticake - there's just not enough time to love them as they go straight to the bank or the vendors. :-) seriously, some people already discovered their flaws. thank you, patti.

@myhrhelper - i'm surprised that not a lot of people know about this yet. thank you, kathy.
@espyetta - we hope so, too. thank you, MB.
