i normally don't care if it's cloudy at night. but today is one of those days when i wish it was clear because i had read that the new moon and venus and jupiter were going to be closer to each other (from us, earthling's perspective) on this evening. no such luck, it's damn cloudy.

but last night it was clear and at seven i thought of getting another one of those fancy chocolates (to eat this time), but i saw the new moon and the bright 'stars'. i thought, tomorrow is the best time to see this but it might be cloudy. so i went back to get my camera and tripod. after taking a few shots, i decided enough as it was quite windy and really cold; i put my camera and tripod away and decided i wanted to go to the drugstore. those mere minutes made a lot of difference, because when i went out again, the positions of those three heavenly bodies had drastically changed, and by the time i came back the moon was gone. so i patted my back and congratulated myself. and that made for my post for the bucket list.

there's the new moon, albeit a day (or night) older, with jupiter on the upper left. if you can't see it, you need glasses (like myself).

and this just might be the lamest photo i've ever posted on my album.
Ok so the focus here is on your story. That's ok. Sometimes the picture is worth a thousand words and sometimes the words have to stand on their own.

Well . . I can see the moon AND Jupiter. So I can hold off going to the eye doctor for awhile. You did a fantastic job, my friend. So don't try to talk us all out of it. :)

It's an Eeyore moon,"Its not much of a moon but it'l do"
Eeyore was and still is my favourite Winnie The Poo character i can just picture him standing out in the dark looking up at this.

Well, now I feel REALLY good about my success with my point and shoot! At first I thought Jupiter was a speck of dust on my computer screen. So you did capture the two- and yes, I think Dixie's right- this one is about the story and not so much the shot.

Nice capture. I can see the moon and jupiter. I struggled last night but got a photo of the moon and venus. I couldn't get jupiter. I would have had to out in -20C and that wasn't happening.
