love and romance (and passion) are both represented by this berczy statue that i posted on saturday. through the passage of time, romance and passion may cease and love becomes a mere comfort and convenience, but it shouldn't be. i know a few couples who are still romantic with each other even after forty or fifty years of marriage. i have seen it many times on subways and other public places where an older couple hold hands, or give each other googly eyes and i find that romantic.
one time at the restaurant we frequent for breakfast on sundays, partner held and kissed my hand as we waited for our order. then he whispered something to me and it made me giggle. our server saw us and when she brought our food told us, "now you lovers, can't you wait until you get home?" then we all burst into laughter.
what she didn't know was that partner whispered to me: "the manager's fly is open." and she thought we were being romantic!
great photo, love the sculpture. I can't wait til I can get back to our sculpture park and/or the park down town St. Louis that has sculptures in it again.
Beautiful statue . . loved it when I saw it the first time. Like this angle too. In a way, you and "partner" were being romantic. I mean, he did hold and kiss your hand. It's all in the perception, I guess. :)
I found it again, the other picture of this statue, it's black and white on flickr and called "family at Berczy Park" by Zenlibra
I love both your pictures of the statues and what you write. I have been with my man for thirty years and we both change but the central romance is always alive and being able to laugh at zippers is part of the joy
I love the way our romance has deepened over the years. And I feel like we've only scratched the surface at 33 years! Now you have a second well done shot of this lovely sculpture.
@steeler - no, we let him strut his stuff for a few seconds but the chef came out to survey the place and it was the first thing he saw. promptly called him aside and partner and i continued to laugh. thank you, howard.
