our young boy is an early riser, no matter how late he goes to bed. when his big brother stays up late, he also wants to stay up late but you could see as early as 8:30 his eyelids start to droop and he becomes more subdued when he is normally fun and playful.
once, when he was about three, he woke up unusually early, about 4:30 in the morning and he couldn't go back to sleep. i was awake but i still wanted to go back to sleep! he wanted to wake up his big brother so they could play. when he couldn't wake him up, he asked if we could watch a movie on youtube. i turned on my laptop and he sat on my lap. after a few minutes, i started to hum 'brahm's lullaby' whereupon he jolted from my lap down to the sofa where he was sleeping, curled up and in a snap was asleep, snoring even. from then on, i knew how to make him fall asleep or feel sleepy.
last time they were here, at nine in the morning, i absentmindedly started to hum brahm's lullaby. he asked me to stop. he said it was making him fall asleep and he started to yawn!
Beautiful shot! I wished I could have taken one of my grandbabies and almost pulled one out of the archives, but I decided to stay true to "the shot of the day" mode even though I ended up with a very boring shot! Look at those eyelashes!!!
@olivetreeann - thank you, ann. this is a shot from a week ago when the boys were last here. those are the eyelashes that get me all the time when he wants to get his way. sigh! plus of course, he is naturally endearing. that i cannot claim to have been inherited from me. hahaha! but i know those are my mother's genes running through this boy's blood. he has a lot of mannerisms that remind me of my mother.
@jjmarble - thank you, j.
