i lost my marbles! (oh, well, didn't they know that from a long time ago?)
i knew i had some old fashioned play marbles in the household. looked for them everywhere, even in the boys' toy box. nada! in my bedside drawer, i found the blue one that is not even a marble i think. partner said it is but to me marbles are these transparent glass orbs with cat-eye-like designs inside.
so i walked down to the dollar store near my apartment and wowsa! i found a pack of 70+1 marbles, the +1 being the largest one. then i had the idea of scattering them on the table. duh! they all rolled down on the floor and i was left chasing them down even underneath the table. (note: must vacuum tomorrow morning, not any later! must!) i was able to gather all of them, i think so here they are.
partner said i should take it back to the store. i could but i would just put it in my box for the old country and some poor kid there would be happy to have these for a toy, n'est-ce pas?
-o0o- @danig - here's my friday haiku with your word 'haberdashery'
caught with his pants down
man said he left it at the
haberdashery.
Gorgeous colors!! Love the sparkle and the lighting ... I'm going to look around for some of the old marbles of yesteryear at collectible stores. I think that partner is right here, summerfield. That blue one looks like a marble to me too. And maybe one of the more rare "cobalt blues?"
@karenann - come to think of it, when i was at the antique market last sunday, i saw some marbles but it didn't click in my head that i would be needing them. thank you, karenann.
@olivetreeann - thank you, ann. you know this marble thing brought back so many fun times from childhood. i broke a few of my brother's marbles (not mine, his hahaha!) because i wanted to get the coloured thingie inside. until now i still can't figure out how they can put those coloured designs. :-0
Very cool shot! I like the colors. I haven't played with marbles since, oh I don't know, since the dinosaurs roamed! I do remember I wasn't any good at it and always lost. These green ones are pretty. 8)
I loved marbles when I was little, but never really played marbles. but then I taught my students one year as it was in a book with kids at turn of century who played....it was fun! Nice photo of your newly found marbles.
didn't we all have fun with these when we were young(er)? and we carried a lot of these in our pockets (that's why my mother would always reinforce the garters of my shorts!) and the clicking sounds they made when we walked. ah, memories! and what do the kids in our modern countries play with these days?

Nice haiku! I forgot! It will come.
@netkonnexion - thank you, damon.
@ataylor - wonder how many children in the modern world know about the game of marbles? thank you, A-M.
@espyetta - thank you, MB.
@pamfromcalgary - thank you, pam.
