this is a last minute decision and surely a very cold one. i froze my butt (and my ears) standing across the road from my building waiting for the damn traffic to clear so i could make the shot.
that's my building in the middle, the dark brick low rise with a green canopy above the entrance door. darn white car is parked in front overnight i hope it gets a ticket hehehe! adjacent to my building looking east is a parking lot. you park there, you walk west past my building, past partner's blue van parked in the driveway and past that lower building that is just adjacent to the yellow building that is the patisserie la cigogne. you sit there and case the display for what cake you'd like to have while you're waiting for me to meet you and i'll buy the cake you want for you.
hard to get a pano shot when everyone else is awake. i had the almost perfect shot before this, but with a half a car on the road! that looked real spooky and was my choice of post but maybe i'll post it on my blog just for posterity. and that, my friends, was how i froze my butt and ears when i took this pic this morning. just for the challenge, just for you, folks!
@slang - thank you, my friend sean harry. if you can believe it, there are some jerk drivers who would stop right there in front of the camera when there's nobody in front of them while the red light was on! what gives! so when are you and jen comin'?
I love where you live ... everything is right there!! My kind of living (hubby loves country! i guess that opposites do attract!) Great shot of all the things that you tell us so much about. I'll buy you that cake, girfriend! It's on me. Love your little variety of shops. It's a real neighborhood. Love the photo.
looks like such a wonderful place to live. what i noticed immediately is how neat, clean and wide the street is. you are going to wake up some morning and find a whole bunch of us on your doorstep!
What happened to that wonderfully warm weather we had for awhile???
It was worth the torture - at least for me I didn't suffer and enjoyed looking at the shot
@pamfromcalgary - thank you, pam. i don't go there very often, once a week is good and partner makes sure i'm only carrying enough money for the blueberry danish which is our favourite. if i bring more money, i buy all my favourites!
@alia_801 - thank you, alia. yes, well done but now i have earaches. :-)
I wish I could get all the way up there and meet you at that patisserie! Alas, I am sure they cannot offer wheat free/GF goods. Darn. When I have been in France, my fav thing to get is Pain Suisse with the chocolate and almond stuff inside. Yummo! But no more of that for me. Darn. I love this pic and how you told us all about your area. Very neat to see!

order me anything at all from that patisserie!
@alia_801 - thank you, alia. yes, well done but now i have earaches. :-)
@slash - thank you, susan.
@myhrhelper - this cold doesn't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon! thank you, kathy.
@sunnygreenwood - there's so much to choose from, it could make you a tad crazy! thank you, anne.
@losthorizon - hahahaha! how true! thank you, beau.
@espyetta - i'll bring you to the restaurant opposite, they do gluten free dishes, you'll have a blast. thank you, MB.
