i took a liking to this young girl on the tall ship "challenge" that was being used for the interactive historical performance at the harbourfront. yes, i went back today to take in the performance that i chanced upon yesterday at lunch.
there was another young girl with her who had the other rope to steady the ship. this girl, however, reminded me of the young princess anne. this girl is quite strong, i think, for her to be able to do her job. i kind of like the outfit, too.
of course, i had to include the airplane that happened to be flying by. note also the kayakers in the background.
thank you for your views and comments; know that they are much appreciated.
Great shot! I'm glad you're sharing the performance with us - it looks interesting and a lot of fun! Nice how you captured the kayaks and plane in the same pic too :)
@alia_801 - thank you, alia. too much was going on at the lakeside yesterday and everyone took advantage of the hot weather. they've been praying for a day like that for about 9 months! :-)
@jannkc - thank you, jann. i was using the 200mm lens on this and i was great surprised by my efforts. when i zoomed in her face, there was no distortion, it was still quite clear.
I think she is looking so confused, as they seem to have time traveled into the future with strange flying machines and strangely mutated humans that have boats for lower halves and paddles for hands. Poor dear. Hee hee
Great shot and you got overthing that was going on there on it...did you focus on the plane or did it just happen to be there when you uploaded your picrture.
@catsmeowb - thank you, camille. she's quite charming, and she looks like she could have belonged to that old period. the other girl with her had highlights, but this girl was so natural.
@myhrhelper - thank you, kathy. yes, i did get the D3100 and i will do the CS challenges probably on our long weekend here. i'm just getting used to the settings. it helped that lately i've been on mostly manual settings in my old p&s, but this new camera is an entirely new animal to me. but i'll try to catch up :-)
@espyetta - hahaha! there's a story right there! she was actually in conversation with the captain who was yelling some instructions and she probably couldn't hear him well because the reenactment was going on and the sound was loud. thank you, MB.
@bruni - thank you, bruni. i knew the plane was flying by, i had some shots where it wasn't in the frame, but i like the idea of something from the olden times and then there's a plane!
This a great shot. I could almost picture this as a Calvin Klein commercial. But really, it reminds me of Casablanca for some reason. Especially with the plane off in the distance.
