It was a beautiful day for the drive and then flight from Chicago to Beaver Island. If all goes well (i.e., not deluges of rain), we will have about 10 days before we close down. Not much sign of leaves turning yet, but hopefully within the 10 days more will happen.
It must give you such a sense of homecoming when you fly in. It is very thickly wooded, isn't it? I suppose it would need to be with a name like Beaver Island!! Out of interest, did it get its name because there are beavers there? Or......?
@casablanca There are beavers here -- we see evidence from chewed trees and dams, but they are really hard to spot. The island is shaped like a beaver's tail. So that may also have been a part of it, but I suspect it's more the former.
