Proud Warrior by taffy

Proud Warrior

About 4 or so figures were totally restored in the 1980s and then shared internationally as a way to raise funds for the remaining, major restoration task. We thought this was one of the original's (Junko's main album has images of another one of the originals - http://365project.org/jyokota/365/2016-11-04 ).
Main album has the overview: http://365project.org/taffy/365/2016-11-04
Extras a closeup of an infantry line: http://365project.org/taffy/the-also-ran-ph/2016-11-04
Excellent shot - this is somewhere that I've always wanted to go. I believe some of them were bought to NZ "on tour" not so long ago, but of course we were out of the country at the time!

@graemestevens They are now on tour at the Field Museum in Chicago and I thought I'd check them out for comparison. Apparently they are not allowing tours anymore as they are so fragile that simply flying on a plane with them creates cracks and they have to restore them again upon return.

@taffy That seems like a reasonable response...I wonder if I can get some my cracks repaired?

I think this pairs perfectly with my "hands" photo! Beautifully lit and captured, shows up elegantly against black.

@graemestevens Check out @jyokota 's image of the M*A*S*H - like operating table before you decide on having them repair you!

Beautiful shot of a very impressive statue.

Wonderful lighting. I remember getting a sneaky shot in the big hall of all the warriors. At the time, they were saying they were originally coloured, so it's interesting to see this one is restored without paint.

Wonderful close up, I love the detail which would not be realized without this photo... but the overall shot is necessary to see the grandeur of that incredible display!
