Went to the gold museum next to the closed gold mine. Normally you are allowed to go into one of the mining tunnels and it has exhibits inside the mine and shows you how the mining was done. Unfortunately it was closed before I arrived. I was hoping to get a chance to do some mining of my own, to help pad out the retirement fund.
However, in the museum building there is this 220kg gold brick that is worth over 11 million USD. How considerate of them to put it all in one place for somebody to steal. I'll have to work out for a few more years to be strong enough to lift it. But that's just good motivation for me to step up my workouts.
Actually I was quite happy with the museum's staff. The guides were all old ladies and the security guards were all old men. As I've said before I admire the way that the Taiwan government finds and provides jobs for the elderly and the disabled.
