As the caption suggests, this is the inland port of St. Goustan which served the town of Auray: today it is a leisure port. There are a number of trucks parked in the square - normally it is a vehicle free zone - because many of the restaurants and bars are being refurbished for the coming tourist season,
There is an interesting link between St. Goustan and the USA, commemorated by a plaque on the building on the extreme right of the picture. The plaque is dated 4 December 1776 and states that on this day, Benjamin Franklin disembarked here, sent to France by the United-States of America to negotiate the first treaty between the two countries.

Great shot Richard. I often wis when visiting old ports like this I could see them as they were, before the leisure crafts, when they were teeming with fishermen or barges. What a photographic delight that would be.
