The name of the boat is a clue to its function - the Cabernet Franc grape variety is the one used to make the eponymous wine from Chinon... and the barrel on board is a further clue. Many of the Chinon wine-growers have their 'caves' in real trogolodyte caves tunnelled out of the soft limestone rock along the banks of the River Vienne - the constant temperature and humidity create the perfect conditions for storing wine. In the past, the wine was transported from the vineyards to the caves by boat.
As usual, the image is SOOC and is part of my ongoing OCOLOY project - you can read more about it in my profile. This is also for 'Square September' which you can find more about here - http://365project.org/discuss/general/28377/square-september
