The Clayton Windmills, known locally as Jack And Jill, are located adjacent to each other on top of the South Downs.
Jack, a black tower mill, is in private ownership.
But Jill, a white post mill, is a traditional working corn windmill that has been fully restored and is now maintained by volunteers. Since being restored to working order, she now produces stoneground wholegrain flour, the vast majority of which is ground from local wheat, grown in Sussex.
Lol! The wheel is a millstone and is about 5 foot diameter and super heavy :)
