Jigsaw is one of the four working donkeys at Carisbrooke Castle.
For hundreds of years the castle's resident donkeys have drawn up water in the well house. There are daily demonstrations of the donkeys working the 16th century tread wheel but nowadays their duties are much lighter - they turn the wheel twice each demonstration.
The donkey keepers say all the donkeys look forward to their shift. Jigsaw loves turning the wheel so much she often turns it a little faster than it was meant to go. Where the other donkeys take 30-40 seconds to turn the wheel, Jigsaw can do it in 20 :)
Sounds like the Donkey to watch. Except for the woman’s dress, the photo almost looks very old time with the donkey and the brickwork building. Love your capture of the brickwork details.
(And surprised - never understand how that works)
