You are stuck with hot air balloon images for a day or two as I invested too much effort in attending not to post. I left home at 4 AM, after giving a quick emergency bath to Piper who decided to confront a skunk just before I left. I arrived around 5:30 as the balloons were scheduled to take off at 6:00. The balloons didn't show up until nearly 7:00, and were under a weather delay. So much for those incredible pre-dawn inflation and amazing dawn lift off images I had envisioned! :-( They finally let the balloons inflate, but the gray sky and poor light remained. Rather than a mass launch, around 8:00 they told the balloonists they could launch at their discretion. Some did, others didn't, and it was quite hit or miss, so it was nearly impossible to catch them aloft together.
I knew I wouldn't have a special landscape to work with, so I was prepared to focus on the balloons, but I had hoped for nicer skies and better light. Maybe next year. Or maybe Monday if I can face another early, early morning trip.
Love the lines, colours, and textures. I am hoping to attend a balloon competition in a couple weeks - probably the sunset launch as I am not an early bird.
Nice capture. I am your Get Pushed partner for this week. For your challenge I'd like For you to shoot a photo where shadows or reflections are the main focus of the picture. Have fun!!
Beautiful!! They really are hit and miss....I have very fond memories of getting up at the crack of dawn for a hot air balloon ride, and watching them inflate them with fire!! It really was magical....hope you get a chance to see that!
