Challenged by Lisa ( @homeschoolmom ), this is my first Get Pushed attempt to do either a white on white or black on black photo. Choosing the darker option to start with, difficulties included finding a suitable black subject matter (an old wine bottle), black background (an old piece of fabric) and lighting (overhead with an old diffuser). Must make do with what one has, eh?!
I love this technique! We called it "zoning" back in the day. Making part of your subject disappear into the background was the goal. This is wonderful! My late professor would have given it an A+. =)
Necessity is the mother of invention- or so they say- but those folks apparently did not know any photographers! I know many a photographer who "made do with what they had" and came up with some pretty clever ways to accomplish their goal- not out of necessity but just because they liked the challenge. Well done on the black on black!
Beautiful soft highlights.
