My Get Pushed partner @salza had challenged me to try split-toning on an image this week. Upon seeing my first attempts, she further wondered what it might look like if I introduced purple as a color or switch the tones I used previously. I confess that when I switched the colors I used earlier and tried yellow in the shadows and blue in the highlights, it was a muddy mess and I couldn't bring myself to post it. So I played a bit with her other idea instead, and while purple is definitely not my favorite color, I did want to at least try her suggestion. This is most certainly not an approach I would normally take, but I must admit it turned out reasonably cool after all--good idea, Sally!
Thank you for bearing with me for these experiments!
I'm with you both on the color purple and the positive result of your playing with it. I think the style of the architecture worked in your favor here- very retro which goes well with the purple tones of this shot.
If you don’t like this let me know and I find you another challenge.
Maybe soon!
