The blackbirds were enjoying these huge anise plants which were very odorous this evening. I've always liked the smell of licorice well enough, but can't stand the taste. ...I feel the same way about coffee. Weird.

Anise plants. I never thought about that, although I am familiar with the taste. I like the layers of color in the sky silhouetting the trunks and bird.
