For some reason this rose bush in our dinky back yard continues to produce incredibly beautiful flowers no matter how neglected it is. I should probably thank it with more attention.

As for neglecting roses, maybe that's best -- there's a rose bush at the house next door that's been vacant for several years, obviously neglected big time, and it too continues to produce wonderful flowers....
