But as horrifying as January 20 was for our nation, Jan 21 on the other hand was incredibly uplifting. The Women's March in SLO, which was going to be deemed a success if even 300 people showed up, was unbelievable. Over 7800 of us registered and it was estimated that about 10,000 actually showed up to march with purpose but peacefully. I'm not sure how those numbers were determined, but I know our line was packed from curb to curb and it was over a mile long. How cool is that?! (No, Twitler, the images weren't faked.) I loved seeing so many young women and men there. So many elderly folks, so many children, so much color and diversity. All this while getting utterly, thoroughly drenched with our weekend downpours. Amazing!!! And the world-wide numbers? WOW!!!
To be sure, the next four years will be difficult to endure. However, I will hold onto the memory of this day which proved that human decency abounds after all.
