I suppose most women love pregnancy pics, but I gotta admit, I am not one of them! I love kids, but the idea of being pregnant doesn't appeal me in the least, nor does photographing someone who is. However, this is a friend and, well, had to give it a shot at least...
I recently walked into a friend's studio, and he was photographing an enthusiastic pregnant lady, also a friend. She was posing with teddy bears and infant clothing, and looked quite beautiful. Nothing awkward at all. I think this photo would have been more comfortable looking if her face had been included. The pregnancy issue still would have been obvious, and the proportions of her body would have appeared a bit longer. Kudos for giving this a try when you were uncomfortable with it.
Agree with @kenteroo , refreshing to see a different take on a pregnancy shot. Keeping the face out of frame leaves so much to the viewer's imagination.... The pic is not necessarily saying "Get out of me!" , since the hands are very relaxed ... yep, intrigued :)
@janim I think it's interesting that you see her hands as being relaxed. To me, they show frustration (kinda like when women give up, if that makes sense). I like seeing it from your view! Really interesting.
