Butterfly in the Garden

This specimen of lepidoptera appeared on my patio today, and I think it will be around for awhile. It seems to have a much sturdier wing than one customarily sees on these insects so it should withstand wind and rain and any predatory birds flying by. I'm glad it's decided to make a permanent home in my garden. I think it will be a good addition to the neighborhood.
It's a beautiful specimen

This is the best type of insect to live on your plants! Lovely. I do not understand the fibonacci sequence even though I looked it up after i read your comment. I can tell it is a pattern and seems to naturally occur in nature. Math was not my strong suit. ;-( I am sure others will be researching it as well. ;-)

@wac Here's a great website to explain it: http://jwilson.coe.uga.edu/emat6680/parveen/fib_nature.htm I'm no math expert, but i do appreciate order and patterns in nature.

Ha Ha Allison, we have two very similar butterflies that fly near the heron by our pond.

On a serious not we have a butterfly bush in our garden (Buddleja) and I am looking forward to when it flowers so I can get some real butterflies :)
