I took this at the Faculty party last night and did some processing because the thickness of the lily pads prevented a clear view of the koi. I kept tossing them fish food and they would rush right up to snatch it, but their beautiful designs were hidden beneath the leaves. I tried this impressionist technique with Monet's lily pond in Giverny as inspiration. When I was finished and studied it for awhile, I realized the colors were more reminiscent of the primary colors of Matisse's goldfish than the subtle impressions of Monet.
