Gung Hay Fat Choy!

Monday is a Teacher Professional Day at Collegiate and students get a day off. Therefore our Chinese language students celebrated the Chinese Lunar New Year today. In these pictures you can see a class of First Graders (bottom left) wearing traditional red for good luck. Above are Fifth and Sixth grade girls who visited the Lower School at lunch time as part of the Dragon Dance. I will upload the video of the Dragon Dance in my other album. At the upper right are a collection of "paper cuts", traditional folk art, created by Third and Fourth Graders to express good wishes for the New Year. The group in the middle row on the right are Third Graders performing a traditional song with gestures. The two pictures of boys in hats are part of the Fourth Grade group who did their own traditional song. You can also see our Lower School Chinese teacher in blue and the Middle School teacher in red. The students were poised and very entertaining. The performance of the Fourth Graders was all the more remarkable when you consider that they (and their Chinese teacher) returned from the Washington DC field trip at 9 o'clock last night.
