Thursday was the annual 4th grade field trip to Washington DC and I was one of the faculty accompanying the group. It is a very long day, with the group gathering at the railroad station at 6:30 AM and returning at 8:30 PM. The students are exuberant but so well-behaved. They travel in groups of 2, 3 or 4 with a parent chaperone for each group. They choose from a list of suggested sites, travel by train and metro and keep a journal recording impressions and finances. It is a great experience for everyone. After much preparation, the teachers have limited contact with the students during the day. We man the emergency check-in station and act as group leaders on the mandatory tours in the National Portrait Gallery. During my free time I visited the National Gallery of Art and took this picture outside the entrance. I am totally exhausted and plan on falling into bed as soon as I finish posting my pictures.Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday and we can drag ourselves through to the week end!
This is wonderful! Can I tell you yet again how awesome your school is? How cool of a trip to get to go on, and I bet the kids have a wonderful time and learn a lot.
