A colleague adopted a greyhound that had been retired from racing. The adoption process took three months and included home visits and becoming educated about the ways of the greyhound. Tess finally arrived from West Virginia by way of a half-way house in Alabama. There were 8 dogs being picked up in Richmond. All the new owners waited anxiously, not knowing what kind of dog would become their life companion. When this beautiful lady was led up to my friend Laura, she wagged her tail delightedly and licked her all over her face. Needless to say, it was love at first sight.
