Labor Day is a U.S. holiday celebrated on the first Monday in September, established in 1882 to honor the working men and women of the country. Nowadays it is imore likely to be remembered as a day to celebrate the end of summer. Public schools traditionally start classes the next day and swimming pools and amusement parks often end their season on this day. On this three day week end, I always try to have one traditional summer meal of hot dogs and baked beans. It is a nice way to say good-by to the long, lazy days of summer.
as a brit, i would say very 'american' allison...almost too stereotype as we brits think your staple diet is hot dogs and burgers !!!! (not that it is of course)...excellent detail here
@phil_howcroft The only times we have hot dogs is on the Big 3 Summer holidays--Memorial Day (end of May) Independence Day (July 4) and Labor Day. Hamburgers I used to love, but now I pretty well avoid ground beef.
