Going Up

Incorporating engineering and imagination in our daily life is this year's school theme. This apparatus was left in the hall of our building. It is called a Genie, and you can see that it has a platform that can be raised and lowered. Wouldn't the kids have fun investigating this device, trying it out for themselves and figuring out what principles are involved in its workings? I'd like to take a little ride for myself.

I sure would know what to use it for. all our windows are so high from the outside and Hans is no good climbing or standing on a ladder anymore since he broke both his ankles from a fall of a roof many years ago. yes I can imagine the kids having a ball trying to figure everything out and maybe taking if for a spin.
