Why these National Treasures were ever allowed to leave England, I'll never understand, but here they are at the New York Public Library. They are housed here permanently, not just part of a temporary exhibit. Do you recognize Christopher Robin's special friends, starting with Eeyore on the far left, followed by Tigger, Kanga, Piglet and ending with Winnie the Pooh himself at the far right? Anyone who has been read to as a child surely has a special place in their hearts for these dear friends.

I think more people are familiar with Disney's versions of them but these really do look exactly like Ernst Shepard's illustrations. I know someone who works there- I should go visit her someday!!
