Rara Avis

I've certainly been familiar with this Latin phrase, but never known the actual derivation. I just looked it up and learned the original quote is from Juvenal's Satires (6.165): Rara avis in terris nigroque simillima cycno ("a bird as rare upon the earth as a black swan").
Well these are no black swans, but certainly turquoise flamingos also belong in that category.
