When is the Best Time to Plant a Tree?

The best time is 20 years ago. The second best time is right now. In the weekly church newsletter was this invitation:
"As WPC considers what it means to "plant trees in whose shade they know they shall never sit", God is stirring up ideas. As plans for a community garden at WPC are developing, a first step will be the planting of a fig tree in the Antrim Avenue courtyard on March 2 at 10:40 am. Fig trees are mentioned frequently in the scriptures, as a symbol of prosperity and security (1 Kings 4:25), as a source of shade for resting and praying (John 1:48), and in the parables and lessons of Jesus (Luke 13:6-9, Luke 6:42-44). Join in the planting celebration on Sunday."
The weather was absolutely perfect -- sunny and actually warm. I think we have given this little tree a good head start. Tomorrow back in the deep freeze with snow predicted.
The detail shows best with the magnifier.

I hate to see trees chopped down and love to see them planted

@sarasdadandmom If this one doesn't make it, I hope the minister sneaks a replacement in during the night so the kids never find out.

Great collage- and having been to Israel and eaten some figs there, I can confidently say your congregation is in for a treat if this one bears fruit!

That is a grreat idea, and many of the young ones will be able to look back and remember this event.
