This farm in Raphine, Virginia is operated by Virginia Tech University. Right across the road is the birthplace of Cyrus McCormick -- his farm, blacksmith shop and grist mill. McCormick is famous for inventing the mechanical reaper in 1831 which changed the whole nature of farming. He ultimately took his invention to Chicago for production, and his business eventually developed into International Harvester.
@hwy61 He recognized that the Midwest was going to be a center for wheat farming. I was quite impressed with his business acumen on top of his other abilities.
