Arugula, also known as salad or garden rocket, is one of the nutritious green-leafy vegetable of Mediterranean origin. "It is a small, low growing annual herb featuring dandelion like succulent, elongated, lobular leaves with green-veins." (wikipedia)
Everything tastes better with arugula added. Here mushroom, cheese and tomato pizza is enhanced by the peppery zip of these fresh greens. The first time I ever tasted arugula was at a special banquet in Florence while on a tour of Italy. I can still remember that first crunch and flavor which woke up my taste buds forever more. Now I toss them with abandon in salad, casseroles and vegetables and relive that grand dinner.
