I loved Susan Orlean’s latest book, which coincidentally was given a rave review in this Sunday’s N.Y. Times. Ms. Orlean was in Richmond as a speaker at a special awards program on Saturday evening, and the sponsors made this free program available at the Richmond Public Library. This was particularly appropriate since the book is all about the honored place a library holds in society. It was standing room only and John and I got there early and got right up front. She was so personable and passionate about books and libraries, I was of course smitten. Here is my review if you want to know more about her book. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2426100176
@maggiemae She was so funny. In the middle her paean to the library, she paused and said, “Of course, as a writer let me say there is nothing wrong in buying books!”
