This container of mini cinnamon rolls was in the Teachers Room for anyone who wanted a snack. The name caught my eye: "All Natural" When I flipped the package over and read the ingredients, I had to shake my head. What part of modified cellulose gum and titanium dioxide is natural? Or maybe it's the phosphoric acid added as preservative. And don't we all add locust bean gum when we're baking cinnamon rolls? It might be funny if it weren't such an insult to the consumer's intelligence.
It is so sad that our food regulations let companies get away with stuff like that. Kudos to you for flipping the package over and getting the details.
Not to mention that "annatto" is actually also know as 160b, and although it is considered a "natural" colouring, it is one of the worst for people who are sensitive to unnatural things.... it used to catch us out all the time!
Now I know not to trust anything that says "all natural"!
Where's the USDA agency that is suppose to protect consumers against this kind of false advertising? I think the producers of this product and others like it are counting that we will be too busy to actually look at the ingredient list.
