Wikipedia characterizes Monument Avenue, in Richmond, as a grand residential boulevard which memorializes Virginian native Confederate participants of the Civil War as well as Arthur Ashe, an international tennis star and Richmond native. This section of Monument lies just west of the last of the statues. Instead you see some recently planted trees lining the median. I think they look as straight and sturdy as soldiers guarding the street.
