James Madison's Montpelier by allie912

James Madison's Montpelier

So many lovely scenes on our trip to fourth president of the United States, James Madison's home, Montpelier. Situated in the rolling foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains about 90 minutes from Richmond, it is a very different world. This collage shows both the front and rear of the house, the view from the front porch and the vista of surrounding fields.
I came away with a greater appreciation of this great leader. This is how he is described on the Montpelier website:
Father of the Constitution, fourth President of the United States, and genius of the American Republic. Madison's early life in Virginia nurtured his commitment to religious freedom and his patriotic vision for a democratic nation. Montpelier also became home to Dolley Madison, whose graciousness and hospitality inspired the term "First Lady".
I will share a few of my other pictures in the next few days.
This is way cool! I'm excited to see the rest!

The grounds are gorgeous. When we lived in Virginia, that was one place we wanted to visit but never made it.

It looks like a lovely place- I wouldn't mind a porch that looked over a vista like that! Especially love the lower left picture with the lush green field. Beautiful collage Allison.
