One of the nice things about being part of a K-12 school is the connections formed between students at all grade levels. Yesterday a class of seniors studying Asian literature came down to a second grade class to share some traditional Eastern stories and talk about the philosophy behind these tales. Here they are sharing a story about Mindful Monkey and Happy Panda in which Panda helps Monkey recognize the joy of doing things in the moment, without distraction, and with peaceful and happy mind. As you can see, the young students are entranced by the Upper Schoolers and I dare say are living completely in the moment.
What a great program! I wish I could be more like Happy Panda and live in the moment more! :) These students sure are doing just that! Great candid photo!
So many good things about this story not the least that there are three adult males in a junior classroom. We have four males on staff at our school and two of them are the groundkeepers! ps I like those student desks.
@cmt2812 I hadn't really thought about that but in our Lower School we have a male kindergarten teacher, second grade teacher, computer teacher and PE teacher. In this picture the male teacher is from the Upper School division. The class he brought with him is coed.
