Diner Food

John and I had a rare opportunity to go out to lunch at a local diner we had only recently learned about. I say rare because the restaurant is only open for breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday. First I read a review in the paper, then I got a Groupon offer in my email. For those of you unfamiliar with Groupon, it is available in about 500 cities. in each participating city, Groupon advertises a daily deal, typically a half-off coupon for anything from a local restaurant or retail store to a hotel or spa; if enough consumers buy the coupon online by midnight, the deal is on and the featured business can achieve a nice chunk in sales.
This is the Moore Street Cafe, in a section of Richmond called Scott's Addition. Nothing fancy, but generous servings of standard diner fare. We had lunch at 1 PM and I don't believe I will plan on eating again til breakfast!
Great b&w

Fun diner shot, Allison! There's something warm and comforting about diner food - always filing - that's for sure! I use Groupon on a regular basis!

Those diners usually put out some of the finest breakfasts you could imagine.

Great perspective! I like these old time diners. It sounds like the foo was fulfilling.

Allison this is fantastic. It may not be the sharpest of images, it may not be the best exposed image, but it just oozes atmosphere and class. It typifies a vision of the USA that we brits think of ! The monochrome gives the image a very reportage feel. Well done Allison. I love this shot

@phil_howcroft Yes Phil, not the best shot. In this small diner I had to take the picture surreptiously and I admit I was a little hasty. Hence all the effects I had to add to try to improve the image. I do think it makes the statement I intended so all's well that ends well!

Diners are truly an American pop culture classic. You caught the atmosphere here.
