Our electricity went out while I was preparing this. Fortunately I have a 3G connection for my iPad so I can finish.
These boys and girls are 4th and 5th graders in the reading enrichment program at my school. They have taken shelter from the oppressive noonday sun in the playground gazebo. Notice, if you will, how the boys and girls are aligned in separate groups. When they were toddlers this was called parallel play. As 10 year olds it means, ."I know there are boys (girls) in the world but I don't have to like it." I predict this grouping will be gone in a year or two.
Such a great capture ...love the b&w! I love your comment, Allison. I never would have noticed this if you hadn't said anything. How interesting this is ...is it always as predictable as this?! The things that we never notice ... unless we're a teacher, that is. :)
What a wonderful teaching moment to share all that! How absolutely true, but I never thought of it in that way before! The picture is a marvelous illustration of your caption!
