I brought this little pendant home from church the first Sunday in Advent, and it has been on the end table in my living room ever since. The top looks like the cap of an acorn and the bottom, like a an old-fashioned glass marble. I think these were distributed at the church service but for the life of me, I can't remember the significance. It sure is pretty though. The other part of the picture is also worth noticing. The linen mat on which it rests was given to me many years ago by my sister-in-law. She is from Finland and she made this mat. When I say she made it, I mean she grew the flax, turned the fiber into thread and wove the thread into two lovely table mats. They lay beneath the lamps on the tables on either end of our living room sofa. What a special gift it is.
Both are lovely! I can't figure out what an acorn might have to do with Advent though. I don't know if it has Biblical significance either- the only seed I can remember from Scripture is a mustard seed. Lovely shot though!
Isn't it funny how things mean so much to us, may not even be expensive, but they are keepsakes, because of who gave them to us, or an event we remember.
Lovely memories....beautifully displayed. I do the same....often look at things around our home and reflect on who gave them to me, their history, etc......then my mind starts wandering ;-)
