Here in the U.S. we are smack in the middle of the sports frenzy called "March Madness" The term refers to the single-elimination Division I college basketball tournaments held each spring in venues across the country, culminating this year in the final game to be held in The Georgia Dome in Atlanta Georgia on April 8. This is the 75th edition of the tourney and it seems people get crazier about it every year. Although most fans have a favorite team, the real reason for the popularity of this month-long event is the betting conducted in homes and workplaces around the country.
Our local team, Virginia Commonwealth University, lost this afternoon and I don't have a wager on the tournament, so at this point my interest is purely academic.
