Tonight was Parents Night at the Lower School of Collegiate. (The fact that it was also my birthday was coincidental!) I took a moment to slip out of the library to take this picture from outside. Rarely do I have occasion to see the library in the evening with the lights on, like a dramatic stage setting. You can see the delicious treats set out for the parents. Soon after I took this picture, the wind began to gust and lightning split the sky. The hostesses scurried to bring the refreshments inside just in time before the rain came down in sheets. The lights flickered on and off for a period of about 20 minutes while we worried about crowd control in a darkened library. Fortunately the storm passed and the lights remained steady. When we left the school at 9:15, the sidewalks appeared dry and my drive home was uneventful.
