We had a little after school get-together at a colleague's house. I had a chance to meet a true rescue dog. This fellow came into the lives of his new owners last year, a year after they lost their 14 year old Bassett Hound, Sam. Fate arranged to put this loving hound dog together with a couple ready for some Bassett love. Although his name was originally Oscar, he now has "Sumpin" on his tag. And as Beth explained, "He doesn't answer to either one."
What a wonderful story! And "sumpin" make's me think of "Lagniappe"...a New Orleans word for "A Little Bit of Sumpin Extra"...and wasn't he though, just when he was needed! Lovely, and he's adorable!
