The size of the crowd was nothing compared to those attending the Easter Parade on the same stretch of Monument Avenue, but it was a beautiful day to hang out, relax between laps then leap up and cheer for the riders. Every 15 minutes the main body of riders flew past, followed by the stragglers pumping furiously. The women's races took place in the morning, and the men's event began at 1 PM.
I'm glad they were there in a supportive role! Had I been in the midst, I'd have taken photos of some of those lovely buildings behind them between laps!
@Weezilou Oh, I didn't actually mean "you"...I KNOW you've got all the pictures! I meant, literally, "ME"...I'd have wanted to go home with those photos! (Good ol' English language in our midst again!)
@Weezilou You are certainly right about it being photogenic. Monument Avenue was named one of the 10 great streets in the country by the American Planning Association.
