Not all the art at the Virginia Museum is displayed on the walls. In order to keep the bright sun from damaging the paintings, screens cover the windows. The effect was like looking at a landscape painted by a Dutch or English artist of long ago. Adding this elaborate frame completes the mood.
This is a view photographed through one of the screen-covered windows? I completely agree that it, too , looks like an old painting! It helps to have a gorgeous old building across the road!
