These girls showed up every morning before class began and sometimes at recess to remove library barcodes, labels and stamps from our discarded books. Every year as part of our inventory process we "weed" books that are damaged, no longer relevant or have low circulation. They then begin a second life, going to hospitals and schools that are not as fortunate as we are. The girls offered to help when we started about a month ago, and they have been cheerfully and conscientiously helping us every day since. Some days there are even more volunteers, but since today was the very last day of class, I was amazed that they chose to spend their free time with us.
